Soilytix, a Hamburg-based company, has launched LOAM, a genomic AI platform designed to help crop-protection companies narrow down the vast number of potential biological products discovered in soil before committing to costly laboratory and field testing. By analyzing 15,640 microbial genomes and leveraging agronomic data, microbiology, genomics, and AI, Soilytix aims to enrich candidate pools and identify the most promising biologicals, addressing the industry’s validation bottleneck. The company is also investigating why biological products perform inconsistently across different soils, drawing parallels to personalized medicine, and is collaborating on its first wet-lab validations. Discovery pilots with crop-protection partners are planned for 2027, with the goal of both reducing downstream testing costs and improving the commercial viability of biological candidates.
