Terry Canning

CEO , CATTLEEYE

Terry grew up on a dairy farm and after graduating in 1995 spent the next 9 years working in a Software Architect/Management role for various telecommunications companies around the world.

In 2004 he founded FarmWizard, a cloud based software product which allowed livestock farmers to easily maintain legislative and performance records. In 2015 FarmWizard was majority acquired by Wheatsheaf, part of the Duke of Westminster's £15bn Grosvenor group.

In 2019, along with Adam Askew, Terry founded CattleEye an ‘AI first’ company, which harnessed the capabilities of advanced Artificial Intelligence in video analytics to deliver the world’s first hardware independent autonomous livestock monitoring platform. The platform is transforming how billions of livestock are managed with a radically new approach to monitoring which meets a rapidly growing market demand driven by trends in protein consumption, antimicrobial usage reduction, animal welfare and a need for increased livestock efficiencies.

In 2024 CattleEye was acquired by the GEA group AG, a German DAX listed public company. The technology is being rolled out worldwide through it’s GEA Farm Technologies division and it is currently monitoring a rapidly growing customer base of almost 300K cows.  As well as selling direct to dairy farmers worldwide, CattleEye is being deployed across the supply chains of some of the world’s most respected dairy processors and retailers including UK’s Marks & Spencer and is approved as an alternative to vet scoring by UK retailer Sainsburys and Netherlands based dairy processor Royal Aware.
