Banks Baker is Senior Director of New Product Strategy for PIC, a global animal genetics and biotechnology company. He leads the global introduction and commercialization of one of the first gene-edited traits for commercial livestock, a pig resistant to Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS).

Banks champions genetic improvement and gene editing as tools to advance animal agriculture, delivering measurable benefits across the value chain, including improved animal welfare, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and more efficient protein production.

Previously, Banks led protein sustainability for McDonald’s USA, where he developed and implemented greenhouse gas reduction strategies, advanced animal health and welfare commitments, and oversaw antibiotic stewardship policies.

Prior to McDonald’s, Banks established a regenerative agriculture research department for a private operating foundation and managed farms and ranches across the United States.

Banks holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Warren Wilson College and master’s degrees in agriculture and business from Colorado State University and the University of Notre Dame.
